Cooked my dad's old fashioned Pain Perdue this am. For those who don't know. Pain Perdue means French Toast.
Recipe: 4-5 slices bread 4 eggs, scrambled 1/4 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup sugar Butter Mix all ingredients except for bread and butter, and put in shallow bowl. Heat pan and soak 1 piece of bread at a time, turning over to coat both sides. Don't soak too long or else you'll break bread apart. Put 1/2 teaspoon butter in pan and melt just prior to putting on bread. Cook over medium heat about 2 minutes per side until golden brown. |
