windsheild mounting hardware?

I have broken all the plastic quick release windsheild clips again. This is the second time. These are the spring loaded quick release type. They suk IMO. Has anybody bolted their windsheild directly to the center console, or used something more sturdy than those cheesy plastic clips? I'm scared that if I bolt it rigid to the console, that it might crack the windsheild.

Yes but you need to use a rubber washer to keep the bolts from cracking it. Also don't over tighten!

The rubber washer, at the least, is a must, but, a rubber grommet is even better. The bolt is completely surrounded by rubber and it's almost impossible to over-tighten.
