Default Camera ?'s for the guru's

I'm in the market for a new camera. I'm not a pro and don't wanna become one. But last year I filmed a turkey gettin skull drug and it was awesome. Regrettably all I had was my cell phone so the quality is terrible. I'd like one wit a good amount of zoom and a good megapixel count. I'd like to film some hunts this year and get some good shots of my dog. Budget is $400. Thank you.

You are looking at point and shoot cameras with that budget. I would recommend a Panasonic Lumix, I got my wife one and she really likes it. It takes good video and good pics as well. I have had point and shoot Nikons, Canons, and Olympus and really like the Panasonic. I also had the waterproof Olympus when it came out and it was not a good camera. I just keep the camera in a ziploc bag

You can look at bhphotovideo.com and look at all the cameras and there will be reviews from people who use them. Usually have good prices on there also. There are lots of options for your budget.

I would go with the Sony NEX-7, almost DSLR quality. You can even buy exchangable lenses to get wide angle or up close. My wife has one and pictures and video are great. The sterio sound from the camera blows away cell phones or other small cameras I have seen. The only issue is doing long video, it overheates some times. Im talking like a hour long video. If doing long video, you realy need a video camera.

Longest video would be 15 minutes and that's stretching it. Just need to video long enough for a specklebellys approach, a greenhead shot and retrieved, and a turkey strutting and drumming then being smashed.

The length of the video would be determined by how much memory you have in your camera. I think they will record for an hour if you have the memory to do so. There are many cameras that fit in your budget that will do what you all you want, would definitely look at the reviews on a camera website. good luck
