Default 3 trips straight.

Had the same guys 2 days in a row. One of them is a member of SaltyCajun Popsdakan. I also had the pleasure of meeting jchief that morning. He was fishing with Josh Howard. We headed out to the "Super Secret" tuna spot. On the way out we had to pass a rig and decided to put out some trolling lures. That move blessed us with a nice 56 inch wahoo. 2 more passes gave up nothing so we moved on and set up shop on the lump for a day of chumming. We have noticed instead of anchoring up we just set up and drift. This allows us to cover more ground and we do not have to chum so heavily. We also like the fact we are not tearing up the bottom of the Midnight Lump. Darn the secret is out. Once set up we start picking away at the tuna and amberjack. It is a little rough and 2 of the sick hand over the side never getting a chance to fish. 2 more are feeling queezy. That leaves 2 to fish but one of them landed that nice hooter and after a few small tuna he was about done. Just after 11 they pull the plug on the trip. Sorry no pictures but I had some issues with the camera.

The following day we had talked about fishing east bay just for the weak stomach but the seas had calmed so all 6 decided to suck it up and go for the tuna. This turned out to be a good move because we put a few in the box. We found a shrimp boat and hit it first. It held bonito and maybe if we persued it we might have found other fish. Without wasting time we run to the tuna grounds. Once I get set up working the boat I have very little chance to use the camera. Nobody got sick except the fish we put on ice. The amberjack were big and so aggerssive that they were beating the tuna to our baited lines. We released about 10 amberjack that were over our limit of 6 in the boat. Once at the dock we just dumped them on the dock.

and hung them up for the bragging rights.

Today we had 4 guys with us. We ran to the same place. No detours this time. It was game on from the start. We only made one drift because the courant changed and we kind of stayed in the same place.

We had a lot of action with kings biting us off and bonito battling our fishermen. In between we managed 6 or 7 yellowfin and 2 blackfin along with 4 amberjack.

We managed 2 good yellows with the biggest being about 80 pounds. The blue water moved out and a good weed line formed up. We trolled it without even a sniff. The line held ballyhoo and mahi. most of the mahi were very small but we did get one at the minimum size we will keep. It was kind of like an early summer day. Warm, flat seas, and fish in the box. Only thing different is we still have FOG.

Life is Good!
Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.
