Finally made it up to Toledo for the first time this year to fish a tourny. Fishing was rather tough through out the day. A thick fog rolled in after sun up which made us lose our bearings while running, couldnt see the next boat lane pole. I thought we were having a bad day of fishing but we apparently did better than alot of people that were out there. After the fog we made it to a grass flat in the indian mounds area with about 10 feet of water. First cast boom! 3.5 pounder. Second cast boom! one even bigger, but he came to the top and opened up that bucket and spit the hook. From what I saw of him I am thinking 5 pounds. That fish was the fish we needed as we lost out from winning money by 1 pound. Drifted that spot for another 2 hours without another bite. We picked up a few more small fish here and there. Everyone we could see were beating the banks all day. We stayed way out from the bank over flats with 10-13 foot of water and it worked for us. All of my fish were caught on watermelon red senko baits with the tail dipped in chartruse garlic dip. Partner finally started catching later in the day when he wacky rigged a watermelon worm.
White perch bite is on as every where we went they were biting our worms and we watched many boats slinging them in. Partner caught 5 in a matter of minutes friday night before I got there, and also a 4.5 pound bass he caught right across from Big Bass marina using a craw worm (pic of fish at night).
1st place stringer went 15 pounds. Big bass I believe was a 5 something. We ended up weighing in at 8.11, a pound shy of 3rd. Many boats did not weigh in due to not catching many fish. We ended with 7 well earned bass.
(P.S. I am well aware of the unfortunate wardrobe malfunction on the bottom of my jersey lol, there is actually a "B" on it as well)
