Default Another nearshore trip pics added

This is a late report because I had to wait for pictures. This was with the guys on the skipjack I had last week.

After 2 days of getting beat up running offshore in the skipjack with Tony and Matt we decided to try some nearshore rigs and do some relaxed bottom dunking. We went into East bay. This is an area located inside and somewhat protected between SW pass and South pass. With the winds we still had to wait untill almost 9:00 before we could leave the dock. The boat has radar and after the last 2 days it is fine tuned and works well. We just did not feel like going through the boat traffic with dense fog conditions. We ran down the river and cut into Joseph bayou. The island out front as you enter the bay has filled in across what used to be the channel.

I hit the bay in the fog and without any track on my electronics I had to kind of guess the direction once in open water and watch the depth finder. All the small rigs and posts there will confuse you when useing radar unless you have studied it well before. I never had a chance or thought it necessary. We got to our destination and started fishing in 50 feet of water.

It was catching right from the start. We fished for about 3 hours. the red snapper were very kind to us and loved our bait.We took some pictures of them and released all of them all day long as we did the redfish outside of the 3 mile limit.

We moved from rig to rig 45 to 75 feet deep. We managed to get some nice croakers, lane snapper, white trout, sheepshead, and when finally in state waters I let them each keep one redfish. Both were well over the 27" length. We decided to head in early before the fog came back in.

They each caught a bunch of redfish so they each held up the 2 we brought back for the pictures.

Notice the white trout lined up across the lane snapper.

Once the fish were cleaned they dissassembled the top on the boat and loaded it on the trailor for the ride back to Arkansas. I will try to get some pictures up. They sent them to me but not the normal way.

Got them!
