Default Fat trout

Father-in-law has been pounding the redfish while I've been at work, and i've been wanting to go. So today I had a couple of hours to kill with my boys, so I thought we could boat a few reds for dinner (of course they think we are going to catch a tagged red every time we go, LOL!).

Anyway, we pulled up to my spot and my 9-year-old hooked a nice 22 inch red in the first few minutes. It gave him a good fight, and it was his biggest red to date. A little later, he hooked another one and started reeling it in, and my 6-year-old started whining about not catching anything. So, the 9-year-old says, no problem, and gives him the rod and helps him reel it in. It gets close to the boat, and I grab the net and almost wet myself........it wasn't a redfish. Turns out to be a 24" trout that went 5.5lbs. They were pumped, but had no idea what they caught.

I'm still pumped about it.
