OEP in Calcasieu is a friend of mine, let me know and I'll find out what his job description is.

I know Mr. Gremillion very well. Knew Cliff also. I am involved in emergency preparedness now. Just a thought. Heard that there are quite a few applying. Not sure if you gotta live in Cameron Parish or not.

Done volunteer work with OEP in SE Louisiana Parishes with Amateur Radio and yes the job description for an OEP Manager can be quite daunting, very political job in the Parishes I have been associated with. Appointing Official is the Parish President and this means it is an unclassified job. Look at the State OEP Office and you will see the training you will endure (THANK YOU HOMELAND DEFENSE) and the Incident Command system, etc. Fire Dept Training is a big help.

Go for it.

Been in the fire service for 35 years. Very familiar with OEP and politics involved. That is where the hesitation comes from.

I simplified the description on the job, I have been in Fire Dept (VOL) here and communications is my military specialty so with a commercial/amateur radio back ground I have never found the need to apply for one of these headaches, oops, I mean positions.

With the guidelines, training and requirements it is a position meant to be a set up for failure. You are damned at the first hurricane.

WAYYY TOOOO MUCHO POLITCS.
