Default I need a fishing instructor!

I'm newbie trying to learn the ropes of fishing specks and reds. Never fished before but very interested now cause my 6 year old son is fanatical about it. This kid can fish all day, not catch a thing, and never complain.

Launches in Delcambre, Don's in Boston and Hebert's south of Erath are very convenient for us, about 15 miles from our house in Youngsville. Been to Don's once and launched at Palmetto Island State park one time. Fished a bit at mouth of Boston and Four Mile canal. Don't know what the hell i'm doing but still enjoying time with my kid.

Been to cove and weeks bay caught a few specks with a buddy that knows what he's doing.

I understand Reds can be had in the canals/cuts off the Boston and Intracoastal but i'm afraid to go off the main path cause i don't know my way around and don't know depths i know some are very shallow. Have GPS but no depth sounder yet (gonna get one). Don't wanna get lost or stuck with my kid.

I'd love to hook up with someone that can show some areas in the Boston and how to find Reds. My boat is 18' fiberglass ski/fish combo so i can do Verm Bay on calm days, would like to learn Redfish point and Fearman or any places off the Intracoastal. I hear Shark Bayou is an option as well.

If anyone knows of a good charter/guide in the area im interested in doing that but seems like there aren't may in our area.

Thanks
