Default power pole vs. talon

I would like to hear your thoughts about the power pole vs. the talon. I am in the market for a 10 ft.

I'll put it to you this way, I know several people who sold their talon to buy a powerpole, but Ive never heard of somebody doing the opposite. Powerpole customer service is top notch and has a 5 year warranty. Talon has a 5 year warranty on mechanical parts and 2 year on electric parts. I have had a powerpole since 2009 and have been very happy

I would go with the power pole but I think the talons have come a long way since their first model. The talon can be found much cheaper than the pp.

Power pole all the way. I like when the unit is activated/lowered everything is below water, out of the way.

I used to use a Talon. It is now laying in my garage. Had to take it off of the boat. I was anchored one day and decided I was ready to go home, but the talon wasn't. Not worth the time to get it fixed because it has happened before. I will be replace with a PP.

I have heard negatives on both. I have had a talon for about a year and have had no problems.

I use an anchor

But from what I know , talons are problems and people who bought them have switched to power poles

I know that Cajun Phil and Those guys got on the staff with talon and removed them and went back to power pole

So I'm just going off of what most people say

If I had to buy one I would buy a power Pole

Good point I have the gen 2 minn kota talon 12, and it has worked flawlessly for me. Talon gen 1 main problem was sticking to deep in our soft bottoms here and being really hard to get up, gen2 talons have a soft bottom mode that fixed that problem.

Ill admit gen 1 were noisy had issues and were problematic in our soft bottoms. I spoke to two different repair shops that repaired both units, both lead me to my choice with their "current" information on both units. Neither shop sold either but authorized repair shops.

To each their own, what works for some might not work for others To OP, do your home work, if you want some details on my finding PM me

I have a 10 ft blade. Its been great. Buddy i fish with has a talon (older) and it has really been a pain for a long time. He finally ordered a power pole. But in all fairness he could break anything.
