FlagUS rant russia

What really chap my *** is when ***** like this is going on (Russia and Ukraine ) Obama threat to use military force. Ummm... Didn't the president and congress wanted to cut the military down to the smallest size since ww2.

I know our boys are ready to fight if needed but it piss me off how they always taking money etc and wanting to flex it force when stuff like this happen. Can't fight a war with a hollow army.

I don't see why our armed forces are being used as an international police force. Let Europe deal with what's going on in Europe. It doesn't involve us and we don't have the money to pay for it. And on another note, the pretender in chief proved with Syria and the red line that is word isn't worth sheet. His hallow threats aren't scaring anyone.

We are not going to get in a war with russia folks... obama is talking out of his rear end.

Ain't gonna happen... bet on it.

With that said... the "hollow" army discussion is pretty irrellevant.... we spend more on defense in this country than anyone else in fact more than the next 14 country's spend in total... it's safe to say that 12 of those 14 are actually allies as well.

Yes you are right we do Spend alot on defense, but on **** we don't need and if it does pass will never make it too the troops on the ground. The Army is downsizing so much right now they are closing couple infantry brigade over seas and some state side.

Russia WILL NOT lose access to it's naval base in Crimea. In the winter that is the only naval base they have that does not freeze over. It allows them access to the Mediterranean Sea and the world beyond. The strategic significance of that port to Russia cannot be overstated.

As far as downsizing the military, we have been fighting two wars for over a decade. The size of our forces grew over that time so it is only natural to downsize now that they are winding down. As a former marine I am always concerned with downsizing because some knucklehead always tries to make a case for getting rid of the Marine Corps.

"*if the Army is indeed cut to between*440,000 and 450,000 personnel, as the Obama Administration has proposed, the Army*could be characterized as operating with the smallest force "since just before the U.S. entered World War II," but it would also be accurate to say that the Army of 2014 will have*170,977 more people than the Army of 1940. And again, whereas the Army of 1940 encompassed the fighter pilots and bombers of that era, today we've got a whole separate Air Force composed of several hundred thousand uniformed men and women, plus a modern Navy and Marine Corps with significantly more personnel."

This picture depicts the five first line US nuclear aircraft carriers
docked together in one place.
Just like Battleship Row at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
This picture was taken only a few days ago in Norfolk , Virginia .
Barack Hussein Obama ordered the 5 nuclear aircraft carriers into harbor
for "routine" (?) inspections.
Heads of the Navy were flabbergasted by the directive
but had to comply as it was a direct order from their so-called
Commander-in-Chief.
The carriers were all pulled out of the Middle East leaving our land forces exposed!
This is the first time since WWII that five nuclear powered aircraft carriers were docked together.
USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69),
USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77),
USS Enterprise (CVN 65),
USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and
USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72)
are all in port at Naval Station Norfolk , Va. ,the world’s largest naval station.

Sources stated that this breached a long standing military protocol in the Navy
meant to avoid a massive enemy strike on major US forces.
( U.S. Navy photo by Chief Mass Communication Specialist Ryan J. Courtade).
This action by Barack Hussein Obama is unprecedented since Pearl Harbor during World War II.

I did some fact checking and EVERY site says.
STATUS: False - The photo was indeed taken at Norfolk Naval Station, but it was on or about December 20, 2012, not "the other day."
This is done when possible to allow troops to be home for the holidays

Obama and all of the other European forces have never stated military force is an option. So, we are not going down that road...yet...If Putin pushes further, which he probably will then the threat will be made.

This is a EU issue mainly. We are concerned because we are the world leader. But this greatly affects Europe. Germany is the key in this because a large part of their economy is linked to Russia. So if sanctions are made on Russia then that will hurt Germany (the nation bailing out all other EU countries). So, Ukraine is f'ed. All the nations will keep talking until it escalates to far...

The Turkey northern border on the Black Sea is very interesting in this whole deal. The U.S. has many ties and deals with Turkey. If Russia unwisely starts moving forces that why then that will suck us into this mess.

Anyway you look at it, can we get George out of retirement to handle a war?

I'd rather see the US get tough with countries that threaten us more directly (Iran) than get involved in a turf squabble that neither impacts us nor any ally with which we have a mutual defense treaty.

Sat in on an interesting discussion today about sanctions against Russia.
There are a few things the USA can do, Freeze assets. Cut food shipments and convince our allies to do the same.
If and when the USA does that russia can retaliate by cutting off oil and gas shipments to the E.U. .
If they do that then opec can sell their oil to the E.U. for the same or more $$$ than they sell it to us for ,w/o shipping cost . So now we have in a round about way cut off a major portion of our own oil supply.

Russia won't cut oil to the EU. That's the only thing keeping their economy afloat at the moment. They would starve themselves out before we would even feel the effect.
