I also have a tracking dog and enjoy tracking deer more than sitting in a stand and shooting them. We hunt in Franklin County Ms, so if anyone ever needs something give me a call.

I was a member of a tracking organization in the past. I think some are good, but I have my reasons for not wanting to join any from here on out. One, when posted all over the internet with specific questions about what to do and not do in the woods, seldom does John Q. Public listen. Second, when told that I will come out and track a deer for you, that doesn't mean I will stay all night with my dog just walking your woods. We either have a blood trail and a mortalily wounded deer are we don't. If I arrive and find brown hair and a little meat, 99.9% of the time that deer won't be recovered. I would much rather track a gut shot deer, than one that was shot in a leg or high above the spine. Third, when the phone rings at 2am for a track and the guy ask how much do you charge, chances are he is not the guy I want to track for.

I would rather just have people call me that know me, I don't make money on this, just enjoy the challenge and like seeing the dog work. I'm not paying anymore money to join an organization for "bragging rights" and I would much rather stay local to my area instead of spending the weekend running the roads to other people's leases to track. I will go for friends and family, but not looking to "advertise".

Thanks for link. My yellow lab was a great tracker but he's in too bad of shape now. Arthritis has gotten the best of him. He doesn't move well anymore so I don't hunt/track with him anymore.

My Australian Sheppard will track deer, he has found 3 to date for us. His longest trail to date is 2.5 miles.

Yeah, but its not too bad, we hunt in St Francisville, the cocaburs are not bad up there. That dog loves the woods.
