I fish that area a lot in spring and summer and have plenty of experience.I would recommend hiring a guide if possible, especially if none of the people you are fishingt with have knowledge of the area. There are too many hazards such as shallow reefs, mud flats, sunk boats etc, that can be dangerous. But this time of year the Yellow cotton bay area is my favorite for trout,I launch at Joshuas marina and head east to get there. There used to be a place called yellow cotton marina but don't know it's status.Good Luck

If you have never been here before you need help to get familiar with the area. I am willing to make suggestions to you just to keep you safe and get you started learning the area. Where will you be staying? I have a charter the 15th out of Empire. As stated before the area is full of hazards but can be learned if you use caution. There are several good deep places to fish around here. The place you stay can determine your launch site.

I live in Empire and fish both Empire and Venice. My latest slam reports have been out of Venice.

When are you going? PM me and I'll give you two spots where you are guaranteed to limit out on trout and reds right now all within 3 miles of the marinas. No need for a guide. The Jump is also a good spot--look for the 10 other boats and drop anchor. Grand Pass & Tiger Pass are on fire right now.

We already discussed that area. He may go there but he is looking at the Empire area at this time. He has been here before.

Thanks Tarpon Tom and Capt.
I have two days of fishing, Pressure to get fish for the three boys.
They have never been.
I will most likely start lower at the Cypress Marina. 2nd day try Empire.
unless someone else has a suggestion.
Rick
Leave Thursday, 13th morning to come down. Fish two days and go to Saints game on Sunday.
