This is a late report but made a trip out to big lake with Ray this chilly morning and found some very hungry trout and a lot of boats. Our first stop was just outside of Turners where there were a bunch of boats and we only picked up two r three. We headed south and ran across some birds working at 9 mile cut and not one boat in sight. Ray did his magic and we were back at the point by 8:50 am cleaning the two man limit. There was a mix of baits used today and it was the natural shrimp jerk jr. on a 1/8 oz jig head, 3.5 inch wedge tail mullet (Chartreuse Pepper) on a 1/8 oz jig head and the TKO shrimp (Blue Moon) under a popping cork. Ended up catching some nice size trout and only had two white trout that we threw back. It was a good way to break in my new Calcasieu Xtreme Rod.
The water was clear and the water temp was running from 59 to 61 degrees. The dew point was 43 degrees and the atmospheric pressure was 30.26 inches. The relative humidity was 87%. The tide was outgoing and the wind was 7 to 9 mph out of the northeast. |
