Default Trip to Holly Beach

My wife and I decided to take a trip to holly beach Saturday for our one year anniversary. We planned on camping out there for the night and fish and all that lovey stuff. But things got side tract and we ended up going home and getting a hotel room and going to the casino. ( we have a 7 month old at the house being babysat and we didn't wanna be to far in case something happened) So we were at the beach for 3 hours before we decided to eighty six the whole deal, i had brought the whole get up and i tried to get some bait fish in hackbarry but couldnt get any in the cast net (stopped at two places). But i bought some finger mullet at walmart, I hate using that stuff cause the fish gets all mushy after its defrosted. So i baited two of my surf rods and got to fishing. Oooo and i forgot my freaking chairs..so we are both sitting on the beach at this point. We got a few hits and my wife caught the biggest gafftop ive seen in my life. Then as i was baiting my wifes pole i seen my tip bending a little and didnt think nothing off it. So here i am just baiting away and my line just took off never seen it go out as fast as it did. so i throw down my wifes pole and im running to mine, i tighting my drap up and i reel in my line and pull back and Ima tell you i thought i was hung up lol my pole bent so much i thought it was gonna snap then he started giving me some and i reeled in slowly but surly as he got closer to the shore he got his second wind and took off again had to loosen my drag again and he took half my line out again. As he started to get closer he wanted to pull back out again but i held him strong and pulled him in. Biggest red ive caught to this day fellas 37" around 20 pounds Had a great anniversary as well!!

It was a little choppy had 10 mile winds out of the south. The water was muddy as far as clarity goes
