Default Fiddler Crab Migration

Was on Hwy 82 yesterday and there were thousands of fiddler crabs crossing the highway especially near the bridges as you get closer to Pecan Island. Pretty cool site, I tried to avoid as many as possible but they were getting splatted. Picked up a few for the kids and they had a field day with em yesterday

Cool story I know

We have them all over our well lease in Johnson Bayou right now too. There are quite a few that have been crushed by the water trucks coming in and out.

Talked to a LDWF biologist and he said they are all migrating to Big Lake. During the spring they feed exclusively on large female trout and with these numbers the trout population may take a hit. Good news though as he said with the big trout out the way Big Lake can once again sustain large populations of trophy black drum. Just relayin the info, don't shoot the messenger

My dad and I saw some on the road at Chenier Perdue Tuesday.
That's like 5 or 6 miles from the beach.

Been seeing them myself off 82 between grand chenier and freshwater city. Didn't know what the hell they were at first..then i realized and started running over em.lol
also noticed a bunch of turtle hatchlings making their way across the road. I've got a soft spot in my heart for turtles (so i avoid em)
