If you can't go over 3000 rpms reeds probably aren't your problem.

I had block rot in my mega this year. Danny Thibodeaux fixed it for me. I got a brand new 40 block with a starter from a guy in North Carolina for $800. He just needed the lower unit. I didn't ask why I jumped all over that! If you need Danny's number give me a pm.

Thanks guys I am really not sure that I wanna put a whole lot of money in this thing. I bought it a few weeks ago and the guy said it ran fine. So whenever I went to check it out, it was on a motor stand, so we started it and it ran fine well when I mounted on my boat it idles and runs fine out of gear, but when under a load it won't open up... May just part it out and try to find another one not sure, just weighing my options....

It wouldn't hurt to let Danny look at it. He could let you know pretty quick if it's the block or something else.

If it idles fine I don't think it's water in the cylinder. Like Scott said, bring it to Danny. No one will give you a better deal and no one knows tohatsu 40s like Danny
