Cheers HELP!!

Me and two buddies are planning on going try to crawfish in the bonnet carrie spillway. I'm reading where people are going and doing real good but, no one is really saying if the road's are real muddy. Do we need 4 wheelers. One guy said something about bringing a small flat boat. I know we need a permit for the 4 wheeler. Im just trying to get an idea of what to expect when we get there, any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
