FlagUS I thought this was interesting

The world's largest army? America's hunters!

December 6, 2010

I don't spend my fall weekends tramping around the woods in pursuit
of a buck, but a lot of my friends and neighbors do.

This blogger adds up all the hunters in just a handful of states, and
comes to a striking conclusion:

The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without
someone getting killed. That's great. There were over 600,000 hunters.

Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth
largest army in the world - more men under arms than Iran; more than
France and

Germany combined - deployed to the woods of a single American state to
help keep the deer menace at bay.

But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of
Pennsylvania this week. Michigan's 700,000 hunters have now returned
home.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it is
literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would
comprise the largest army in the world.

His point? America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with
that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of
national security. Now, I wonder why a lot of congressional members
and liberals want to ban firearms?

*************************************************

I love my country.

It's the Government I'm afraid of.

God Bless America!

So true. Try to mess with the country boys, and you get killed. Would love to see Mexico try to invade. They'd be stopped before they got to the Alamo.

Uhhh, I think you may have missed the boat on this one. They've been invading for decades now!

I know what you meant but, I had to throw that in there!

Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto - “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.”

very nice post...so true and I wonder what the percentage of those hunters who commit blatent murder? I would venture to say the most register their guns too right???

don't punish the ones who follow the rules...sad to say but that is the path this country's leaders have chosen...

its easy to say that I could do 3in groups at 50 yards if I took 10 shots! Most people don't shoot pistols at 50 yards its pointless! POST requires 18 shots at 25 yards so most people trained in pistol defense are trained 25 yards all the way up to 2 yards away. so I call B.S.!!! an expert marksman couldn't do it, I use to shoot at least 500 pistol rounds a weekend and I know I couldn't do that especially with a s/w and a pistol with a 5in barrel unless it was purely an accident. a pistol in a fixed vise couldn't do a 3in group at 50 yards.

I can hit Kentwood water jug at 100 yards with my 44 with open sights. That is propped up but still! Don's judge others marksmanship until you see it happen.
