Default BL report thursday 10/6/16 welcoming advice

Launched calc point and fished Turner's area near channel.
Some small trout on deeper reefs early, one red. Shrimp and lil jons.
Moved around a little but mostly fished that area. Never did get on good bite.
Tried moving water by rocks in channel below texaco cut, lots of shrimp and shrimp boats, but only one red.

Water was fairly stained with the wind, not much tidal movement, lots of shrimp in the area. Only kept a couple as i never really found them.
Calc pt lady gave me some croakers but nothing would eat them (probably because of all the shrimp around).
Still struggling with why ill catch one trout then nothing else in the area.
Never did cross the lake to the E side with the E/NE winds, maybe i should have. Fish did not seem to be near channel where i was mostly fishing.
I try to share what i find (no matter how bad it makes me look!) in the hopes of some better fishermen chiming in to help me learn. Not looking for spots, just hoping to actually learn something from what i find, and what to do again or not do again.
Thanks guys.
