Looks like one of the planatains, probably broadleaf plantain.... common in the south. Control it with 2, 4-D (2 applications spaced 15 or so days apart will usually get it and not hurt your st. Augustine.

I was seriously waiting for a "Dro" comment from someone. I'm kind of upset that golden opportunity was missed. To get back on subject though, I have something that looks like this taking over my yard along with those damn clovers. Will 24D take care of clovers as well? |

2-4D will whack just about any broadleaf. But be careful with it and watch the wind when you spray it.

I use Weed-B-Gone on that weed and it kills it with one spraying and doesn't hurt the St. Augustine. I just douse it really good.

I control those "chadron" s with a lil salt and vinegar or add them to salad or when frying I bread them and fry them.

They are kind of like celery, you eat the stalk. The younger stalks are the best.
I put my had on the thistle in the middle of the picture to give you an idea of the size. The plant on the left is over 6 feet tall.. |
