Best thing to do is sit in front of a house that has tame mallards in the back yard
and see if you can make them call back to your call.
Every duck sounds different. Don't get hung up on the sound of your call. It will work
if you don't over do it.
When ducks are far away, call louder. When close, don't call loud, barely do any
when they are in the pond.
Also, learn to use a whistle. Ducks work well to a whistle too. Most all ducks whistle.
If you are hunting with someone else, while one is quacking one can whistle.
Or alone, rotate between the two.
