I would think the 5.8 to 1 is what you want for top water. It will keep you from retrieving it to fast. As for the curado it is also made by shimano just like the calais. There is no way in hell any Curado is on par with a Chronarch and, especially, a Calais. If there's no difference in the reels.....why would someone buy a Chronarch or Calais and pay 2-3 times the money?
