Moon phase doesn't dictate when I fish, just where or how I'll fish, and not so much because of what phase the moon is in as because of tide.
Generally a big moon brings bigger tide swings, and as cripley said, current follows the moon.
Since there is a lot of variance in the tide depending on where you are in the estuary I'll move to areas that will have more favorable tides/water movement at the time I'm fishing. The tough and time consuming part is learning the tide differential for various areas. Since I primarily fish the marsh that can get real tricky because you can be in one pond where the water is rising, and a nearby pond may still have falling water.
