You can get there. Might have to run through some Lillies depending on direction of wind. Also, might be easier to come in on the interstate side rather than the boulevard side. Just need to check them both. Also the pit on the north side of I-10 ALWAYS has fish in it. You can easily get to it from the little phillips.
