Fool hit it on the head. GCO is a repository of information, as opposed to a message board. It is more for data versus opinion and talk. Think of it as an encyclopedia site.
@bay_slayer: You can copy and paste articles with the permission of the original author. If the info is on another public site (i.e. another wiki), it is considered public domain and is fair game for C&P. However, you cannot take someone's blog post, or a quote from their website, and C&P it to GCO. It must be public domain or you must have permission from the author.
Please read the info on the main page that explains how to create an article. You will need to do a search for the topic (i.e. search for Calcasieu Lake). If the topic does not exist, you will be given the option to create it.
