Alot of variables go into play here. Normal case: they go in and do a fusion with rods. She will get out and they will fit her for a TLSO brace to wear whenever she is sitting up for several months. She will have to be log rolled for a while to prevent any torqueing. Recovery will be quite a while. Now depends on the type and severity of the break as to the degree of problems. If its pressing on the spinal chord or causing cord edema then you start looking at paralysis and things like that. Really depends on the specifics.
