unless you are connected or are a relative in a key position, shell, or any other major oil company doesn't hire people with no oilfield experiance. Too many experianced people out there who would jump at the chance. they usually fill up the superdome with applicants when they have a job fair.

most folks have to get a job working for a third party contractor and be at that job for a while before they can expect to be considered as a potential candidate.

if he is a petroleum or other type engineer that mught be differant.

Roustabout job or service hand job is alot easier to get. wireline/slickline, P&A, coil tubing, wellhead, fast-torque, mwd/lwd and other trades are always eager to get good hands. Allot of folks hire on, but don't stay long enough to learn the trade.
