I can, and do on a regular basis, get behind someone on I-10 and "pace" them using my GPS, then initiate a traffic stop. I do not need radar to issue a citation for speeding when I pace a vehicle. Usually, when I return to my unit, I activate my radar to let them know their detector is working. That way when I walk up to have ticket signed they ask me if I used my radar and I say "while yes I did, didn't go off while I was sitting in my car just now"?
