You have to figure out which direction they are going and cut them off. You can't set up like trout because more times than not you can't catch them with your trolling motor. So u need to get closer with the big motor and get with in casting distance a lot quicker than usual. Some times they are moving to quick to even use the trolling motor so I will put a 3/4 oz egg weight on top of my jig head so I can increase my casting distance, motor into casting distance and let her fly! If they are thick they will hit your bait as soon as it hits the water.
