i used to buy shimano for that reason, that is awsome LCT is still doing that. here in BR , bass pro , cabelas, and academy used to do it also no questions asked, untill recently if you dont purchase a bass pro or cabales extended warranty they will not do an over the counter past 30 days you have to deal directly with the manufacture. so now i buy what i want because most high end rod do have a great manufacture warranty but i am alittle more careful because it can be more difficult dealing with the big dogs and it takes longer. if i break a rod in my truck door i would never try to swap it out , but to bad not everyone thinks like that and they take advantage of the situation i dont blame the manuf. for stricter towards returns
