The rubber latches will dry rot in a controlled environment, rubber bands go bad in a drawer, tires go bad in a warehouse. The latches on yetis and others will still need replacing along with the gaskets to maintain a seal, or the latches will break. The box is lifetime, but components will go if used outdoors in 5 years I bet. That's why they "sell" replacements.

Even so, I will still be buying a K2 and keeping Coleman's on hand for beating around. The sting is way less noticeable when you leave one at a buddies, or get one yanked out of your truck.
