I fish around Houma so I'm no help to you spots on over there.
But I can tell you over here we are catching specks and smaller reds in the Ship Channel which is typically fresh. A buddy of mine who has a house on the intracoastal not far from TGMC which is in the middle of Houma and typically fresh has been catching Redfish and Specs off of his dock. In one night he caught gaspergou, channel cats, bass, redfish and speckled trout

So Yes Saltwater fish will travel into fresh water.
