500 a day is too steep in my opinion anyways...find the right farmer and you'll see as low as 1-200 I rent from the same farmer every year and it's always some good shooting then we hunt the blue line in bayou meto it's public but tons of rules and regs so u gotta be on your stuff....I love that place I love everything about it I could go up there for a week and not kill one bird and still go back....hunted with twin oaks lodge last year...very expensive but well worth the lodging and hunting experience...can't beat doing it yourself in the timber of bayou meto though....make sure if u hunt the timber bring a jerk cord....and mojo water stirring decoy...very effective we find especially in December....I wouldn't even waste my time up there in late January I've done it a couple times late January and it sucks up there the locals will even tell you that.
