That could be a tough one, but you really need to make sure the races are in good shape and the bearings. Lot of that will depend on how many miles are on the trailer since last change.
Additionally I read somewhere that if you pull a boat for several miles and the bearings will heat up, that when dunked in water, will pull water into hub through contraction from rapid cooling.
I try to change mine yearly, and have always had issues.
Did mine this summer, I pulled the hubs and replaced all brakes, races, bearing and seals will a good marine trailer grease and total cost was about $200. I did wait too long or would have been about $70.
