Default Prien area 11-2-12

I have been doing some hunting and I have not been on the water in a few weeks so it was good to wet a line again.

I started off in Lake Charles along with about a dozen other boats. Caught a couple dink trout before moving over to the deeper water in the east side of the lake. I caught another small white trout before catching a 16" speck. There was some fog in the area and it really started rolling in about 8:15 AM. By 8:30 AM it was so thick I could bairly see a boat 150 yds. away.

The fog finally cleared up by 10 AM and I headed down towards Prien area. I had tried a variety of soft plasic and all caught fish but only had 1 Trout in the ice chest. The water in Lake Charles is very clear [2' visability] and along the river it is 12" -18". The winds were calm until late morning and by afternoon were 10 mph.

I fished a flat area using a Char Swimming mullet gulp hoping to catch a flounder or two. Instead I caught 6 trout, with 2 going over 20" and finally caught 1 flounder. All these fish were caught dragging the bait along the bottom.

I tried a couple other spots with no luck so I decided to put on a spinner bait and catch some Red's. The Red's really liked my homemade bait with a big Char color blade. I caught a limit of Red's [biggest was 24"] and another 5 that were undersize.

Finished the day with 5 Reds, 8 Trout and a flounder. Half of the big red was our supper last night.
