Sounds like he has an impressive resume already. Tell him to talk to his dean for the info and attend the career fair if it hasnt already passed. Also, register on the career services link for mcneese, they will send email notifications for upcoming positions.
As far as missing a semester, in my experience and opinion, it's not worth it. Finding a job with a mechanical engineering degree is not hard at all. And despite what many people say, a co op or internship is not necessary to get a job after graduation. Don't get me wrong, it opens up a lot of doors, but it's not necessary.
Also, if he does end up getting something at citgo, they will probably offer him full time after graduation
