The guide who had the Lady in boat said if he ever sees a turtle and if he is catching 5lb trout he is leaving. That's how bad of a deal it was , not local but federal wardens ! He told us if you see a turtle run! Because you don't want to even be close to one to maybe have someone see you close to one!
And if a turtle watcher girl can shut down a multi million dollar project because she saw a sea turtle with in 25 miles of platform .... They take it for real

Same thing 'W', they are all federally protected. You did the EXACT same thing to a federally protected animal, and even took video of it. Were you ever worried? You shouldn't be, because you did the right thing, no big deal.
I am not sure, but I would bet whale sharks are protected from harassment but if I run across one in the gulf I am jumping in and swimming with it
