The only thing that worked for us was waiting. No shock collar, sprays, or any amount of, (don't hate) beatings worked. I tried everything, event getting rid of my dog (couldn't find anyone), to rid myself of having everything not locked up, being chewed up. Dog hit 2yrs old, and completely changed. Now, no chewing, and one of the best dogs I have ever owned. Labs are like most of us men when we are young, stupid, and don't care about the whippins. They grow out of it, if you can stand it...good luck. By the way, labrador retrievers were bred to retrieve fisherman's bouys off of the labrador coast in ice water, so they were bred to have an incredible pain tolerance so the ice water wouldn't affect them. so that hot wire, probably didn't bother him at all.
