Those are my favorite catfish baits, and make good baits for bream too. We used to catch em and freeze em in corn meal. Some people would say they would come back to life when you unfroze em, but never saw that. There could be a whole new thread on 'what people call catalpa worms'
Uncle called em catawba worms, i have heard togger worms, katogger worms

One other catfish tip we learned is that when setting wooden slat traps it was best to set the throat down. Always heard to face it downcurrent and the fish would swim up and that works, but someone suggested hanging the entrance to the trap about one foot off the bottom (we tied a brick on a one foot rope, set it down and pulled it up til it got heavy) and the catfish will swim up into the trap. It doubled the catch
