honestly it all depends on the facility/dr.... some suture wounds within 24hr some within 12hr.... some 6hr... foreign bodies, environment exposure, location, depth etc play an important role in whether or not you will receive stitches. there are other ways to approximate the edges which one would be steri strips, kerlex roles, etc. . dr has to make the call whether or not there is a high infection risk. dont wanna sew up some nasty stuff thats been lingering in that wound for the past 12 hrs.
