look into electric netting we use it to keep chickens in a certain area sometimes, I bet it would work great to keep out coons and other garden stealing pests. IMO battery powered fence systems require to much maintenance because ants love electricity and they will get into the connections and short out the fence. Now it may work better around a garden just because you are there alot so you can control the ants, but out in a field the solar powered ones are worthless
