I used to hunt out there when I was younger and you could actually hunt from the levees. I could kill a couple of wood ducks every morning. They would roost on the lake and leave out in the morning. You could pass shoot them on the levees and do okay.
I never went out to the blinds on the main lake, but did witness that type of hunting. Imagine a landscape of painted bottles for decoys and a blind every 200-300 yards. A poor flock of ducks would come into the lake and everyone would break loose hail calling. The ducks would circle one set and leave it for another on and on until someone would take a chance on a 70 yard hail mary. This was 15 years ago, and I would imagine not much has changed.
What we did do and were able to kill a few doing was go to the outskirts of the lake where the thick stuff was. Clumped trees and matted vegetation areas. We accessed these areas from the levees with a canoe/pirogue. we had a couple of good hunts like this. Kind of the same story with any public area, if you can get away from the pressure you will have a little more success.
