The buck walked around a bit and finally, after about 5 minutes gave him the broadside shot he was trained to wait for. The whole time I am looking through binoculars giving him instructions to "wait', "now", "no, wait", etc. I had a severe case of buck fever and my heart beat so hard and fast the I could barely hold the binocs still. So, shot finally executed: "Bang"! Deer looks up, and calmy jogs off. DAMN! We thought sure miss! Deer usually buck or jump when shot. Not this guy, he just walked off. Saw dust fly behind deer after shot. We were both dissapointed and I was giving him the old talking to about a miss is not as bad as wounding, etc. He was really down on himself. Well after about 10 minutes I decided to get out of blind to look for blood. As we walked up the trail off to my right I saw the deer laying there. It ran exactly 15 yards and died behind a cedar tree. Shot just behind right shoulder, through both lungs. PERFECT SHOT! I let out a scream that my buddies heard from the next blind -- over 750 yards! High fives and hugs for me and my son! Proud moment!
