Thanks for the info and you bring up another confusing topic, bait! It seems live/dead bait is the way to go for Redfish. But some have told me you can catch them on lures. The myriad of lures is dizzying. spoons, buzz. but i heard you can catch them on curly tail soft plastics.
seems not much live bait around here unless you can catch it yourself. Stop 92 in youngsville has some i think they have minnows but i'm not sure what kind. I've read use "fresh shrimp", what's that. Like go down to albertsons and buy shrimp from the butcher? or from back of bubba's truck on side of road? Where do you get mullet?

You also mentioned tides. How can you tell if tide is falling other than looking online before you depart. It seems Weeks Bay and cyp point have different tides which i find odd i figure they would be about the same. Also what tide would fearman lake area follow, southwest pass?

i hear that inside fearman lake is pretty shallow can you fish in there.

what about Little White Lake and Shell Island just south of ICY?
