I have been throught this a couple of times and took some picture. Hope this helps.

The way the steering rod goes through pipe on the engine.....it is not lubercated on my engine. A few years ago, I found the inside of this pipe was all rusted up and the rod just would not move to turn the engine. I cleaned it out as best I could and greased up really good.

Then a few months ago the steering got fairly hard to turn so I took it apart again. This time I found the steering rod was bent fairly bad. I guess I hit too many stumps and logs going too fast.
