The only issues that have been problems lately have been bad coils (which Merc has gotten figured out), and the dreaded 100hr #6 cylinder pop. Personally I like the Sport XS due to it being produced by Merc's race shop (better QC) and the option of gearcase styles/ratios. Both are good motors, just depends on what you're looking for. The Pro XS will have a longer warranty, but the Sport XS will run like a spotted dog!

I hate to say it,but mercury's new updated coils have failed already. When I worked at a mercury warranty center we changed out quite a few new coils. That is what you get when they are made in mexico....
