Allen "Chink" Sumas (picture to left), one of the kings of Seabrook, has fished the lakefront for the last 50 years.
"Seabrook has always had big fish," states Chink. "You can catch big fish all year long."
The opening of shrimp season in May signals the beginning of some great fishing. Fishing usually is best in July but last until late August. Chink adds that November and December can be great but the shrimp season really produces the best catches.
Almost every morning finds Chink pulling a trawl to catch shrimp and croakers. After about an hour of work with the net, 15 to 25 count shrimp become bait for large five-pound trout.
A few occasional eight pounders are added to the ice chest.
