Default Turner Bay, Big Lake and the Armada: 12.04.10

Fished Turner Bay along with the Cajun Armada. 2 weeks ago I drifted some--this time I anchored in the Oyster reefs in about 5 to 6 feet water. The water was really nice even with the high winds kicking up after 11am. I kept one nice flounder and a limit of trout. Hackberry Hustler in "Who Dat" and pumpkinseed with chartreuse were the baits. All fish caught between 8am and 2:30pm. All fish ranged from about 13 to 17 inches. I was too tired to pull the camera out @ Spicer's and snap a shot.

Interesting note: I thought I had the only J16 Carolina Skiff on the Big Lake. I was anchored fishind downwind at the back of the boat and I was focused in one direction. I happen to look behind me and another J16 similar to mine (except he has trolling motor) with a couple had anchored about 50 feet behind me. I was shocked as I couldn't cast their direction and they sure couldn't cast my direction. After many of the boats had cleared out and this whole lake to fish--even Turner Bay, this guy picks a spot next to me. I caught 2 fish while he was there and then he quietly left after about 20 minutes. I didn't say anything but I sure wanted to--but it would not have done any good. Either he was not concerned about crowding, or just isn't courteous.
