Big Lake catching 11-9-10
I got my fix.....of catching some fish.
Got out in Turners Bay about 7:30 AM and about 15 boats were already there and several areas had birds feeding.
Started off catching on glow/char Sand Eel jr. on 1/4 oz jig. The wind was blowing 8 to 12 mph from the East most of the morning. The winds picked up a little more during the afternoon and shifted to the South.
Water near the ship channel was a little brownish but farther south it had a greenish color with 18+" visability.
About 9 AM the bite really slowed down. The tide was slowly falling during the morning and started falling good by noon.
I had a limit of Trout by Noon, but played catch and release during the afternoon. I caught a few trout on LSU color and opening night w/ char tail. The trout would hit a topwater, but I only caught one. I did have something fairly big hit the topwater but as it got to the boat, it came off.
I got the most hook-ups when I retrieved the bait very slowly and let the Trout "tap" the bait several time......then I would start reeling to tighten up the line.
You never know who you might see out on the water. Hint.....no windshield.
